Welcome to the Arc

The Arc is a site dedicated to the discussion and thought provocation of sports, music, and video games. The site will be updated on a weekly basis, or, fluidly to adhere to any major breaking news within the subjects discussed on this site. There will be an opportunity for open discussion and interaction among anyone who chooses to contribute.

This site is lead by myself, Elijah Moore. I am currently an electronic media and broadcasting major at Appalachian State University. My mother served in the United States Coast Guard, and through that, I have been able to travel the country. I have experienced different cultures and have cultivated many different interests and opinions. From experiencing the production of both music and video games to adopting the different sporting fanships from location to location I feel as though I'm in a place now where I can properly discuss these topics.

So allow me to explain a few of my interests and experiences to help with the understanding of where The Arc is headed. I spent a good bit of my early life living about thirty minutes away from San Francisco. So naturally, I grew up a 49ers fan. The place where I was raised lived vicariously through the NFL team. Over the past few seasons being a fan of the franchise has been rough but I've remained a fan all the same. Also being a student at Appalachian State I have adopted the Mountaineer football team as my favorite collegiate sports team. The football culture here is great and I enjoy attending the other sporting events within the university as well.

In regards to music, I primarily listen to hip-hop/R&B, some pop and since I've been living in Boone country music has begun to grow on me. My favorite artists include Kendrick Lamar, Chance the Rapper, and J.Cole. While I lived in Chapel Hill for a period of time I worked in a beat making lab which was held underneath the town itself. I worked with several different artists and learned how to make music, but the most notable of those I worked with was Pierce Freelon, who is currently running for mayor in Durham, NC. From him, I learned a lot about music and how it affects the cultures around the world and vice versa.

Finally, no matter what age I have been or where I've lived, I have always had a passion for video games. I'm not anti-social and I don't really drive myself crazy to get or play certain video games. But I am definitely one who would rather stay in on a Friday or Saturday night and play a game with friends than go out. I have owned a gaming system or handheld from nearly every generation since I was born. However, I still enjoy being updated and holding conversations about current and upcoming video games.

So that is the full arc of topics that are going to be discussed. There will be occasional polls and forum discussion in order for me to gauge what would intrigue those who visit the site regularly. This way there will be an opportunity for the audience to have a form of control or suggestion as to what is discussed on the site.
