The Appalachian State Mountaineers traveled to San Marcos last Saturday to take on the Texas State Bobcats. The mountaineers walked in as 21pt favorites but looked shaky to begin the game taking an early 0-7 deficit in the first quarter. The defense played well and had a "bend but don't break" mentality throughout the rest of the game, only giving up 2 field goals at the end of both halves. The mountaineers offense shook off the rough start and racked up 283 yards and 20 points. The game had its fair share of drama however. Towards the end of the game on what was arguably a game sealing scoring drive by the mountaineers, QB Taylor Lamb fumbled the ball in the endzone and gave the Bobcats life for their own chance to tie the game. The Bobcats looked like they would not be denied as they were able to march down the field, converting every 3rd and 4th down in their way. However, time was their biggest enemy as they were held one yard out of the endzone as the play clock expired, sealing the Mountaineers victory of 20-13.
